In this term's project 'Paws, Claws and Whiskers', Year 1 are learning mapping skills, including looking at different types of map such as aerial and simple line maps. They are also learning how to follow a map and will be putting this into practice when they visit Axe Valley Wildlife Park on their fieldtrip in October.
They are also learning about 'keys' which help them to identify features on a map. In this lesson, the children were using symbols that they had learnt as well as creating their own symbols and placing them on the car mat to inform their classmates of what is on the map.
